In the finished vehicle segment, Transfesa provides transportation services, storage, vehicle preparation and distribution to the principal manufacturers. These services are carried out by rail and road depending on the clients´ needs.

Transport of vehicles

Transfesa carries out the transportation of vehicles via three entities:

  1. Pool Hispanauto for international rail transport.
  2. Pool Ibérico Ferroviario for rail transport within Spain.
  3. Capsa for road shipments in Spain and other European countries.

Pool Hispanauto is made up of wagons of Transfesa, the French company STVA, and Semat. All three partners jointly exploit the common fleet of car-carriers with interchangeable axles.

Pool Ibérico Ferroviario, is made up of wagons of Transfesa, Semat and RENFE. Their main activity is rail transportation in Spain, combined with storage, preparation and distribution of vehicles to car dealerships.

Both Pools operate a fleet of over 2,100 car-carrier wagons with interchangeable axles. All of these wagons are equipped with a lateral protection system, and in the wagons of the last generation, also with a mobile intermediate floor.

The Transfesa Group annually transports approximately one million vehicles. In 2006, the Group achieved a market share of 27% in the transport of passenger cars (national and international).

Vehicle Logistics Centres (VLC´s)

Transfesa, manages Vehicle Logistics Centres (VLC´s) in the Iberian Peninsula through its subsidiaries Semat (in Spain) and Stifa (in Portugal).

Distribution to concessionaires

Transfesa carries out the distribution of vehicles from the Vehicle Logistics Centres to the car dealerships by road using its own fleet of car-carrier trucks as well as the subcontracted one, thus completing the automobile logistics chain.
